Testimonials

“We searched the length and breadth of the UK for a supplier of quality tailor made livery and were delighted when we found Alexander James, this small but dedicated family business, situated in Pendlebury, North West of England.

They offered precisely the sort of friendly, personal and informed service we were looking for and now use them regularly for the manufacture of all out livery.”

George Bowman – International Carriage Driver

“ I can unreservedly recommend Alexander James as one of the best tailors I know, with the skill, experience and professional but friendly service we would all like to experience.

The Side Saddle world is small and elite but the habits cut by this small family business shine out in the show ring and hunting field for their cut and quality.”

Elizabeth Turner – Vice President Side Saddle Association

"We first had tweed hunt coats made by Alexander James after the hunting ban and these were wonderfully made and hard wearing.

Since then as Sinnington masters we have all our hunting clothes made to measure by them. Our red coats are well made, good quality, warm and very competitively priced."

Edward Duke MFH - Sinnington Hunt

Received my waistcoats last week and wanted to say I am thrilled with them; great quality and cut, along with value for money and very good service. I will have no hesitation recommending your company to anyone looking for country wear. Looking forward to wearing them but it is 85oF at the moment so will have to be patient!

Thanks again,

5 Star, Superb quality! Our hunt coats, my side saddle habits and hunt breeches are wonderful! The standard of workmanship is excellent and customer service is simply amazing! Thank you!!!!

I just wanted to send a huge thank you. My coat arrived this morning and it fits perfectly, I was truly astounded at how fast it got here because living East coast USA and ordering something so specific, to then be shipped transatlantic, had me assuming something would go wrong somewhere. I need not have had any concerns at all. Thank you once again.

I received my Moorland Shooting Vest this past Friday.  In a word...it is SUPERB!  Please forward my compliments to the chef...or in this case - the workroom.  The quality and details of the garment along with the across-the-pond communications exceeded my expectations.  I will, in due course be contacting Alexander James for a couple pairs of breeks.

I'm sure the wearing of this vest will no doubt improve my brace of game!!

Mark, I recently received a bespoke tweed shooting vest made by Alexander James (order #4661) via my good friend (now tailor) Sir William Nanny of Norwood, North Carolina. It is stunning in its looks, quality and fit. I showed it to the owner of The Sporting Gent in Charlotte and he was very impressed. Thank you so much….personal service seems to be a lost art these days but you all seem to have captured it. I will enquire soon about breeks/slacks to match. Thanks again,

Just a quick note to tell you that we're in receipt of the two shooting vests.  And... both my vest and Stewart McDowell's Glen vest - fit 'like a dream'.  Please pass along my thanks to the workroom for a job well-done.  The quality and tailoring are, in a word, superb!

I believe Stewart will be reaching out to you separately with his comments.  He is a 'Big Guy' and having something made up like this is always a bit risky.  That said, the chest, waist of the vest is 'spot-on' and needs no fine-turning. Stewart is a co-owner of a very posh sporting firearms shop.  He was wearing his vest when I left the shop!

Best regards,
Bill Nanny
